What is a Fulldome Projection?

Fulldome projection displays moving images on a 180° or 360° dome surface, completely surrounding the viewer with content. It is mainly used in planetariums, science centers, and immersive theaters.

How Does a Curved Screen Enhance the Viewing Experience?

Curved screens extend into the viewer's peripheral vision, reducing distortion and increasing immersion. This makes visual experiences feel more natural and lifelike, especially in large-scale formats.

Where Are Fulldome and Curved Screens Used Today?

What Resolutions Are Required for Fulldome, LED Domes and Giant Screens?

Fulldome productions typically start at 8K to 12K resolution. Large LED domes and next-generation venues often require 16K or even 18K masters. These formats require precise warping, edge handling and format-specific mastering.

Can 360° or VR Content Be Shown on a Dome or Curved Screen?

Yes. 360° and VR video content can be remapped using a process called fulldome warping to play on dome screens or immersive LED venues. This allows for cross-platform storytelling from a single production.

How Long Does It Take to Produce a Fulldome Film?
