A VR film that lets visitors experience an OpenRide indoor cycling session through the eyes of a fellow rider.
OpenRide, a Swiss fitness brand with studios in Zurich and Basel, introducing its experience to new audiences at events.
Making the atmosphere and flow of a studio session tangible away from the studio, before someone books their first class.
A reusable event experience that pairs a VR headset with a real bike and gives the team a natural starting point for a conversation.
Get on the bike, put on a VR headset and find yourself in the middle of an OpenRide session. We created an immersive film from the perspective of a fellow rider, bringing the studio experience to events and inspiring people to try their first ride.

THE STORY
OpenRide brings together indoor cycling, music, lighting and the energy of a group. Its studios in Zurich and Basel, Switzerland, combine a workout with a club atmosphere. Moving to a shared rhythm is as much a part of the experience as the time spent on the bike.
OpenRide was founded by Eva Nidecker, a former Swiss radio and television presenter from Basel. In 2019, she and her partner Flurin Müller opened the first studio in Zurich. A second location followed at Basel’s main railway station in January 2024, taking the concept to another Swiss city.
THE PERSPECTIVE
For someone who has never visited OpenRide, there are natural questions. How does a session unfold? What is it like to be part of the group? How do the space, music and movement come together? These questions shaped the film.
We chose the viewpoint of a participant. Wearing a VR headset, viewers follow a session from their own place among the riders. They gain a sense of the space and the flow of the workout before attending a class themselves. Rather than describing the experience from the outside, the film puts them inside it.
IN ACTION
OpenRide uses the film at events and promotional activations. Visitors put on a VR headset and get on an indoor cycling bike. Sitting on a real bike while looking into the filmed session gives them a direct preview of the workout.
For the team on site, the experience creates a natural starting point for a conversation. Visitors can ask about what they have just seen and how to join their first OpenRide class. The film is a reusable way to introduce the brand beyond its studios.

BEHIND THE SCENES
The production centres on the experience of a participant. That choice shapes the story: viewers follow the session from a perspective close to the one they would have during a real visit. It makes both the offer and the activity in the room easier to understand.
The accompanying photographs add context to the finished film. The event footage shows how the experience works in practice, with a real bike and a VR headset.
THE RESULT
The result is a VR experience that OpenRide uses to engage people in person at events. Visitors discover how a session unfolds and can then discuss it with the team. For a brand built around shared experiences, it is a fitting introduction: the conversation starts on the bike.
