NEST is the modular research and innovation building of the Swiss research institutes Empa | Eawag

NEST, an innovation hub for building technologies and sustainable construction, opened in 2016 at the Empa campus in Dübendorf. It unites over 150 partners from research, industry, and the public sector to collaborate on new ideas.

The NEST-VR tour bridges the gap between research and real-world application. Avocado360 and Ateo teamed up with NEST to create this immersive VR experience, which is modular and divided into units that showcase NEST’s projects and innovations.

Featuring over 50 panoramas and rich multimedia content, photos, PDFs, infographics, and videos, the tour offers a detailed view of NEST’s solutions. The modular design ensures smooth navigation across all devices, from mobile to desktop.

Each tour unit is independent yet easily integrates with new additions, enabling users to explore NEST’s innovations interactively and paving the way for future expansions. This large-scale tour engages stakeholders, researchers, and the public to connect with NEST’s cutting-edge initiatives, making advanced research accessible to all.

Intuitive Navigation: A Seamless Guide Through NEST’s Virtual Tour

The special feature of this virtual tour is the navigation specially developed for this tour. The nest consists of various units that correspond to the themes of this unit. To make visiting these units as easy and quick as possible, we printed the navigation scheme on the concrete wall of the entrance foyer. This simplification enabled us to make the navigation very simple and visually appealing.
